China confirms export of eight submarines to Pakistan

These Chinese subs look deadly. Aren't these the export versions of the subs that caught the u.s. carrier groups off guard many times by surfacing near them sending alarms on how come they were never detected?

Dont be silly. Barak 8 may be good but in actual conflict lot of things can go wrong that will allow your ships to be vulnerable. Even barak8doesn't have a probability of intercept of 100% (p=1). Consider the possibility that late block harpoon is better than noor or c802. And that usn ship self defences may be better than yours. Notably ew.

wonder why singapore bought old swedish subs then, which dont even fire harpoon...

While building a mature design at two yards? That should be speedier.
The choke-point is KSEW. China will build and deliver its four submarines by 2023. KSEW's submarines will arrive after and by 2028. It could be related to how it is being financed? Perhaps the agreement is for eight, but four are currently being paid for?

The contract was signed for 8, so the payments are stretched to the maximum.. 2016-2028.. 4 to 5 billion$ on 12 years is quite affordable..

Will Pakistan develop it's own AIP systems for these subs, And can Pakistan build attack subs like these at home?
Nope, most likely a customized version based on sterling cycle tech. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Thanks. btw do you think by the time we get close to the delivery, can we demand more modern features akin to Chinese submarine tech considering how fast is technology progressing especially military technology?

Has PAK-NAVY discussed this part with Chinese in Agreement?
Up-to-date features will be incorporated throughout the construction years.. the last ones should have the latest tech incorporated on them.. just remember that these submarines are very sophisticated as we speak..Yuan39 and 41 Qing class.. The price tag is also a good indication of the class, since for 500 million$ a sub it is in par with the German type-214..

Heard as soon as they finish their Type-214 project.. they will also upgrade their Type 209.. so around 2020,,
So this is not Type 214 these are totally indigenous project ???

Four will be built in China and delivered before 2022-23; the other four would be built in Pakistan and before 2028. In reality Pakistan would need to build the docks as well as facilities and so it's within a reasonabe time frame.

Pak built the Agostas and X-crafts (for SF) under license... those docks can be utilised?

When Turkey plans to start developing these ? @cabatli_53

Design studies are proceeding. Armerkom has designed MILDEN class and design correction studies thanks to developed algorithms are proceeding. The Milden will have a similar displacement with U-214TN which is under production phase with around %80 national contribution in Turkish Naval shipyard. What Turkish industry wants is to directly transfer know-how gained in U-214TN program to a fully domestic submarine which has a weight around 2000t.

Turkish Navy requests to use national attacking strategic assets on own designed submarine as different from U-214TN. At this aspect, We may predict that Milden will have a serious attacking capabilities. Some of planned activities arelike following...

Atmaca anti-ship missile submarine variant(250km)
Gezgin land attack cruise missile submarine variant (1000km)
Akya heavy weight torpedo(533mm)

It's possible that you need adjustment or expansion of the old facility. It's said that the 8 subs are planned to have the same starting time. For the Chinese side one could expect first delivery between 2018-2019, and then one sub per year or so.

@~Phoenix~ See what the real sub deal and how much it cost... :D not 2 subs for $250m.... :D

It's just first Not last ,we will learn to operate and maintain a sub with the secondhand Chinese sub then go more sub probably Russian kilo class. :)

Could also be a new AIP solution based on China's fuel-cell expertise. It depends on how we intend to use the submarines. Sterling AIP is quiet and effective, but it could be inefficient in terms of fuel. Fuel-cells are very energy efficient, but the low output may hamper speed.
