The military budget is over $5 Billion, but there is a separate budget that is allocated for maintenance and procurement of over $11 Billion as part of the modernization plan of the armed forces.

Currently the focus is on unmanned vehicles and air defense, but I wouldn't rule out any other platform.

I agree. That money is better spent on education, healthcare and infrastructure, but there is a huge threat with the unstable North Korea-like regime in Algeria. We have to modernize our army and keep it ready to stop them.

Since 2011, Morocco was promised a $5 billion aid package from all of the GCC countries. . This is what is public, but I am not aware of any other aid. Relations between Morocco and GCC countries hasn't been good in years. However, there are sign that it is going to improve with the new government in Morocco.

The SIGMA 7311 also belongs to the class of fast combatants of the SIGMA family and has been designed for an undisclosed customer. It is specifically developed to provide additional capacity over the 6110 in the fields of air assets and when there is limited ASW capability.

There was nothing official about this though. I am not sure if it materialized or not or if this news is even true, but it would explain a lot the spending spree of the Moroccan army.
