969 MW Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project in AJK, has been 98% completed.

The first unit of the project is scheduled to go into operation by the end of March 2018 followed by the second unit in mid-April and third and fourth units in May 2018.

Pakistan's 969 Megawatts Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project in Azad Kashmir is fast heading towards Completion with Chinese Cooperation. Water Filling Starts in Head Race Tunnel. The Project is expected to be Inaugurated by April 2018.

 
As wonderful as these pictures are, AJK is severely under developed. The decent standard of living people enjoy is mostly thanks to expat money.

Most areas don't have gas connection, many lack telecom lines, electricity comes and goes, proper guttering and waste management is completely missing, there are water shortages, the roads are full of potholes, the health system is next to non existent (people travel to Islamabad for proper treatment of serious illness). I put all the blame squarely at the feet of the AJK politicians.

Azad Jammu And Kashmir To Have Three World-class Museums

Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Thursday signed an agreement with Pakistan Museum Association for capacity building and training of archeology department employees.

MIRPUR , :Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Thursday signed an agreement with Pakistan Museum Association for capacity building and training of archeology department employees.

Official sources told APP that AJK government would establish three international standard museums in three divisions of the State. According to archaeological experts, this initiative was considered as major development for saving cultural and historic heritage.

Moreover, professional consultants are also going to be hired by the incumbent government for restoring and renovation of ancient Red Fort Muzaffarabad and Prime Minister AJK have already given the approval on the report presented to him concerning the renovation and retrofitting of Red Fort Muzaffarabad.

There were several prestigious and heritage items existing in AJK which might be exhibited for public and it can enhance tourism besides scenic views of AJK, sources added. It may be added that Prime Minister AJK had announced, few days ago to save cultural heritage in the State and initiatives to make state of the art museums are the tantamount to construe that commitment.

The State Archaeology department has also advertised to hire international level professional consultancy firms for the renovation and retrofitting of historic buildings in AJK.

Over 300 students would be enrolled in the college every year.

Work on Mirpur SEZ starts

MIRPUR / AJK: Initial work for the establishment of a world-class Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Mirpur, approved under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has started. “Mirpur would have the ninth SEZ spread over an area of 9,500 kanals,” Mirpur Division Commissioner Muhammad Tayyeb told APP on Monday. Elaborating the steps taken to construct the SEZ, the commissioner revealed that the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government had released over Rs183 million in the last fiscal year 2017-18 for the construction of first phase of the SEZ. “More funds have been allocated in the new fiscal year’s budget for the project; the SEZ would have latest infrastructure and facilities in line with the needs of modern age,” he said.
 
102 MW Gulpur Hydropower Plant (GHPP) is an under construction, run-of-the-river hydroelectric generation project located on Poonch River, a major tributary of Jhelum River near Gulpur in Kotli District of Azad Kashmir.
