  • Yep, scholars of sunni Islam of partial or full Persian descent include Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim al Neyshapuri, Abu Haneefa Marzbani, Imam Termezi, Abu Dawud al-Sijistani, Al Nasai al Khorasani, ibn Majah al Qazvini, Al-Zahiri, Ibn Jarir ut-Tabari, Al Juwayni, Fakhruddin Razi, Ghazali and so on. May Allah be pleased with them and have Mercy on them all. Ameen.

    Here is a Sunni hadeeth which I'm sure the Shia will appreciate, there is a beautiful narration from the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) about Salman Al Farsi and his people:

    Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

    If the din were at the Pleiades (stars), even then a person from Persia would have taken hold of it, or one amongst the Persian descent would have surely found it.

    Narrated Abu Huraira:

    While we were sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ), Surah Al-Jumu'a was revealed to him, and when the Verse, "And He (Allah) has sent him (Muhammad) also to other (Muslims).....' (62:3) was recited by the Prophet, I said, "Who are they, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?" The Prophet (ﷺ) did not reply till I repeated my question thrice...cont

    ...At that time, Salman Al-Farisi was with us. So Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) put his hand on Salman, saying, "If Faith were at Ath-Thuraiya ( the highest star), some men or man from these people (Salman's folk) would attain it."

    This narration gives some more context of the incident. Remember this for any racist Arab, or otherwise, Muslim who you meet.
