Turkish Unmanned Vehicle Programs

Tubitak Sage TOGAN is 81mm smart air-to-ground mortar ammunition that primarily developed for mini UCAV systems. You see the carry and drop tests in the video, but when the system is put into service, it will carry 8 TOGANs on its pylon, which means incredible firepower for a drone in this class.. Apart from DASAL, many other mini/tactical UCAV developments are in progress in this class that will use smart mortar ammunition. Many of them have been shared before on this forum.
Does Turkey plan to acquire this system? And if so, in what capacity does it look like they would use it?

IMO this vehicle will probably not go into service for observation and attack missions, I think that such drones, like food delivery drones, will be used for logistical support.

They are not very suitable for observation and attack missions, except at very short ranges.

Perhaps good enough for each major border outpost to have a CAS platform?

Perhaps this is good at a test platform and just having standard UAVs on hand at nearby airbases with lots of similar munitions is probably a more cost effective option.

Hope Pakistan looks at this product from Turkey, and license produces it in Pakistan. I’d assume a relatively affordable platform, such that each FC and/or Army base could be equipped with it.

Relatively simple design, and relatively cost effective munitions (even if guided versions are used). Would be very good for the FC and border guards along the long western borders.

A cost effective way to solve the CAS needs of the FC.

How does Turkey plan to use these?

Why not It looks great. I would have tapped the Turkish to also do Hypersonic missile collab

TEI GM: While the competitor engine is 155 hp, PD222ST gives 225 hp. It will provide great advantages in terms of take-off power and runway distance. It will be used in TB-3 and Akıncı C.

Tbh it looks very vulnerable to ground fire, particularly snipers who could be hiding in caves and mountains.
What we need is something along the lines of a conventional helicopter design which is capable of longer endurance, more speed and a higher altitude.
Something mounted with a 12.7mm turret, to allow for operations in far more "complex" environments.
There was a US firm (DARPA, LM or Boeing, I can't seem to recall) which built a helicopter UAV based on a Subaru 4-cylinder, it had an endurance of about 20+ hours and overall a spectacular example of utilizing Off the Shelf Parts for a new concept.
We can easily build something like that in a JV with Turkey. Something like that would be a headache for terrorists, especially if paired with other MALE UCAVs.

There is also the issue of cost and numbers. If each major FC base had a simple multi rotor copter, but on the other hand if a better more resilient helicopter drone like you explained could cover a large area it maybe a better option. Something for the military to study for sure.

You know, the standard technical requirements for land army armored vehicles... The potential enemy's fortifications, trench widths and terrain conditions in potential operational areas are known by armed force, some certain standards must be fussily adhered to.

An another ŞİMŞEK variant is being prepared, which will be transonic and supersonic (+1.2 mach). TUSAŞ ŞİMŞEK is a High Speed Target Aircraft System that carries countermeasure launch system. In addition, in recent years, studies have been continuing on Air-Launched Decoy/Deceptor/Jammer and Kamikaze drone variants according to some sources. In the past months, photos of ANKA carrying ŞİMŞEK were shared with the press. So that ŞİMŞEK will meet an important need such as the test-evaluation processes of Turkish air defense and air-to-air missiles gaining a more unique quality and in tactical matters such the penetration/saturation of the force into the enemy airspace.
