    I am retired (age74.) My PhD thesis in solid state physics from the University of Illinois, researched optical properties of GaAs. A clear way to corporate R&D in physics is following graduation with a PhD with an experimental thesis, or as a co-op student while pursuing a BS in a scientific engineering field.
