SRINAGAR (Web Desk) - The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested on Monday to prevent him from leading a pro-freedom march in Srinagar.
Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested outside the shrine of Dastgeer Sahab (RA) in Sara-e-Bala locality of Srinagar after he tried to march towards Lal Chowk.
The puppet authorities have imposed curfew and other restrictions in Srinagar to restrict the protest march called by the joint resistance leadership.
Restrictions have been imposed in and around Lal Chowk and other areas, police officials said.
“Restrictions will remain in force in and around Lal Chowk area in the valley,” a police official told media men in Srinagar as reported by Kashmir Media Service.
The joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik were scheduled to lead the protest march.
The leadership has issued the calendar in the valley to continue the five-month long mass agitation and protest against Indian occupation.
Syed Ali Gilani continues to remain under house arrest at his Hyderpora residence while Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his Nigeen residence in Srinagar.
