So I just want you guys to run by some ideas here for writing such a book. The things I would concentrate on is:

a) Pashtun culture, their different tribes, the relationships between the different tribes. The regional dialect differences in Pashto as well.

b) The 'precise' geography (towns) of the FATA & the Eastern Afghanistan provinces, & the relationship between the tribes in the FATA to their corresponding ones in E.Afghanistan, across the Durand Line.

c) A fictional account of the ISI network in the AfPak region. Agents & officers.

d) A fictional account of the CIA network in the AfPak region. Agents & officers.

e) A fictional account of the Afghan, Pakistan, American, Indian, Iran & other governments collaborating.

f) A fictional account of the different Taliban leaders from different regions in the AfPak region, & how different terrorist groups collaborated with (or contested against) each other, & who their loyalties were with. The relationships between their different groups.

g) How the tribals viewed these terrorists. How the terrorists brainwashed some of the tribals (showing Madrassah indoctrination), & how the tribals fought against the terrorists.

h) A detailed insight into the secret drone program

i) Covert operations inside the AfPak region

j) OBL raid

I would write it from a first person narrative, of someone's personal experiences, & deep exposure to all these aspects. Can any of you guys give me your feedback, & opinions as well?

Making a (realistic) movie of the AfPak war would be great, but of course, it wouldn't be feasible. It wouldn't be realistic enough, & would seem like it was shot in Los Angeles or some other city.

If its purely fictional, watch some Zaid Hamids videos. It will help you. :P

Jokes apart, great idea to work upon. Just like the rivalry and spy movies based on USSR vs US.

That's why I come to the PDF often, & read comments from all posters, & look up different sources for news. I am also reading up a lot on the literature of the tribes from the FATA, in trying to understand everything I've mentioned in my first post. I hope to start writing a book in my spare time soon, but I have to collect the material first. Cheers.
