The lawmakers of Sindh Assembly during discussion on budget demanded the government to withdraw the services of rangers as it didnt play any role in improving the law and order in the city and only caused financial burden on the exchequer of the province
The lawmaker termed the incident of forced conversion of religion of Hindu Girls a conspiracy to compel the Hindus to leave Sindh. As usual, the House commenced about two hours late with Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani in the chair resumed the discussion on the annual budget for next fiscal.
Sindh Prison and Miner Development Minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan in his speech on budget believed the external and internal conspiracies are behind the destabilisation and deterioration of law and order in Karachi. He said that Sindh government had abolished the MPAs priority programme, through which each lawmaker got development schemes worth of Rs60 million annually for last five years.
MQMs Ponjo Bheel, who was elected on reserved seats for minorities, said that PPP government had ignored Karachi in terms of allocating development funds. He opined that religious minorities were also ignored in the annual budget, claiming that minorities department minister initiated a project at worship place of Hindus at Sadh Forest in Sukkur with over Rs500 million, but same scheme is missing on ground.
He demanded of the government to initiate audit of funds spent by the minorities department during last five years.
He further said that scheduled cast minorities are deprived of basic facilities of water in Thar area, where they have been victim of diseases for generations. He demanded of the government to delete the rules calling the property of enemy left by the people who migrated to India after independence.
PPPs Faqir Dad Khoso demanded his partys government to withdraw the services of the Rangers, adding that federal force has not played any role in improving the law and order in the province. He also demanded to get vacate the hostels and other government buildings occupied by the rangers in the province.
He advised the government to start recruitment in Sindh Police on merit basis.
PPP MPA called upon his colleague lawmakers to play their role in ending the tribal feuds in the province. He also demanded the government to slash the 50pc fees of private schools immediately. PPPs MPA Lalchand, who was elected on reserved seats for minorities, said that despite deteriorating law and order and kidnapping for ransom, the Hindus of Sindh will live and die here and will not leave their motherland.
He said that incidents of the forced conversion of Hindu Girls are conspiracy to compel the Hindus to leave the Sindh province. He appealed the whole house to play their role as it was the responsibility of the majority to protect the minorities.
MQMs another MPA Saleem Rajput said that a huge amount of Rs5 billion was allocated for only two districts - Larkana and Nawabshah - other major districts, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas received only Rs4 billion of special development package which was injustice with other districts. MQM MPA Khawaja Izharul Hasan termed the Sindh budget a division between rural and urban areas. Later, the speaker adjourned the session.
