What's new

where it come from stan ?

. . . . .
means "Land" in farsi.

Whats interesting is that all the Turkic people used to use Farsi as their official language just how we use English nowadays. The Farsi used at that time was quite different to what is spoken in Iran today. I reckon it might be close to Dari but i am not sure about that part. It was also the official language of the Mughal empires.

The British banned it in the subcontinet and the Russians banned it in the CAS states which resulted in the decline of Farsi speakers and the language is now only limited to Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan, plus a very limited number in Western Pakistan.
