Although it is true that with the advent of modern weaponry and technology Europeans were able to exploit other nations on a far larger scale than any other group in history, HOWEVER it is also true that with this very technology Europeans are also the only people who abolished slavery after rendering it obsolete (with the advent of machines/automation).

New York used to be New Amsterdam, funny how that works. To this day there are still streets and regions named after Dutch explorers and settlers.
