First we had Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter.
Then Toby Maquire as Spiderman.
Now Shia Le Beouf in Transformers and ... as Indiana Jones' son???

Seriously, can't they find anyone in the same league as Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt...? Those guys dripped 'cool' even in their younger years -- unlike these new megadorks.

. .
Some reasons:
It is more interesting to see ordinary people doing extra ordinary things, underdogs winning etc.
It makes the general public relate better with these dorks than the macho , perfect looking guys.
The audience feels you needn't look like Harrison Ford or Brad Pit to become a hero.

next time they will hire you giga dork

. .
why do you call them dorks?

If you have to ask, ...

Not sure about that.

They tried casting ordinary looking women as heroines with Anne Hathaway and Sandra Bullock, but it didn't work too well and they went back to the glamor queens.

I suppose Spiderman is understandable because the character is supposed to be a nerdy kid with secret hidden powers, but Shia Le Beouf as Indi, Jr????

Also, the glasses on Daniel Radcliffe completely ruined the 'otherworldliness' of Harry Potter for me. He looks like a typical English schoolboy. He might as well be carrying a cell phone.

Chuck Norris
Stevan Seagal
Arnold Schwarzenegger

:cheesy:

Those are 'tough guys', not 'cool guys'.

There's a world of difference.

Watch Harrison Ford in Star Wars, or Tom Cruise in Top Gun. They are not 'tough' or macho by any stretch of the imagination.

I think it also depends on the script they have. If Indiana Jones' son has been portrayed as a nerdy kid , they cast an actor who suits the role(It will be worrying if Toby Mcguire is cast as Thor or James Bond.). As for why they made the character to be dorky, I believe it is the time we live in. This could be the season of dorks.

Possible.

Although the whole Indiana Jones franchise is based on cool -- Sean Connery (the British, cultured cool), Harrison Ford (the brash American cool) and now... Shia LeBoeuf???

Anyway, I suppose they will throw in lots of CGI special effects and -- desperation mode -- release it in 3-D....

We don't now how the next Indiana Jones will be but the last one used very less computer effects. It was mostly done mostly using traditional effects to remain true to the franchise.
