LAHORE: For the first time in the city, a Vintage Car Rally will be held on Tuesday (today) as part of the ongoing Lahore Shopping Festival.
The rally will start from Liberty Chowk at 3pm and culminate in front of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) building after passing through Gulbergs Main Boulevard and Jail Road.
Owners of three dozen or so classic cars, majority of which have been over 50 years old, would take part in the rally, said sponsor and Trafco Tracking chief executive Tahir Malik at a news conference on Monday.
The aim of holding the rally is to create awareness among the younger generation about classic car models and to encourage their owners. It will be the most attracting event of the festival, he said.
He said the Punjab government would provide security on route of the rally. My organisation will continue sponsoring such healthy activities in future too as its corporate social responsibility, he said while appreciating the efforts of LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik and senior vice-president Sheikh Arshad for organising events to provide healthy entertainment to Lahorites.
Being organised by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Punjab government, the festival events include a polo tournament, Husn-i-Qiraat competition, young entrepreneur business plan competition, photographic competition, vintage car rally, World Punjabi Organisation musical evening, business walk, Lahore wrestling championship, First Punjab Expo, motorbike rally, fashion show, cycle race, concert and cultural show besides a conference on investment opportunities in Lahore.
