ISLAMABAD: Washington welcomed General Raheel Sharif's statement on Thursday to not let Pakistan be used for terrorist activities against its neighbours.

According to details, the United States welcomed the statement by General Raheel Sharif and expressed the hope that Pakistan would implement on the words of the general. Senior representatives of the White House said that General Raheel's statement was important and it remains to be seen how Pakistan would implement on his words.

Senior representatives of the Obama administration said during a press briefing that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had stated the same words before that Pakistan would not let its land be used for terrorist activities against its neighbours.

In response to a question, one senior representative stated that the presence of safe havens for terrorists in Pakistan was not a new thing. He however did say that during the past few years, Pakistan has acted against terrorist organizations and has also lost many lives in the process.

He said there still was existence of terrorists groups in Pakistan and the United States has time and again raised this issue with Islamabad and expressed its reservations over the matter.

The White House representative also said that Pakistan had guaranteed cooperation to the United States in carrying out activities against the Taliban, Al-Qaeda and the Haqqani network. He also acknowledged that Pakistan had also taken significant steps against the above stated organizations. He said that Pakistan needed to maintain the pressure on such groups since it was in its own security interest.

The senior representative further stated that Pakistan needed to root out militancy by working closely with the United States. He further stated that the United States believed that Pakistan's support was vital to peacekeeping in Afghanistan.

Will Believe this statement the day likes of Masood Azhar, Lakhvi, Dawood, Hafiz Saeed are in jail or killed. Till then it's all puff.

From " Do more " of bygone days, now it is " Welcome ". I sure hope it stays that way in the future.

The problems India faces are the consequences of its own acts in Kashmir and other areas where RSS is oppressing religious minorities and lower sects. Believe me the day India decides to take out its forces from Kashmir and put a leash on RSS your list would vanish by itself, else its destined to increase.

Your general should have said it then -

We will not allow terrorists to operate from our territory if India does

- a
- b
- c

Till then Pakistan will provide support and sanctuary to terrorists.

Why leave out the details?

I'll be waiting for the day when USA also address the foreign forces who are busy creating havoc in Afghanistan trying to fulfill their dirty motives inside Pakistan. Motives in which thanks to Pak Armed Forces they are unsuccessful till date.

He dose not need to consult you before giving any statement. He knows how to do what needs to be done.
Moreover if our neighbors are so sure about our connections to their problems UN is the forum they must use, whining here wont do any good.
BTW we are still waiting for solid evidences in Mumbai and Pathankot incident.

I don't know. Seems like Gen. Sharif statement falls under the "do more" category to me.

Whatever happened to the dossier that Pakistan gave to every Tom, Dick, and Harry, documenting India's acts of terrorism in Pakistan? Even UN got a copy and they have not moved on it, nor have the US.

General Raheel is doing a good job and I am proud of him.
Yes this is a good step by him and he should be appreicated for that. Though it should have come from our civilian leadership but we don't have any and for them all I can say is "إِنَّا للهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ "

Well said. Good judgement.

Why exactly should Pakistan do so if India supports insurgents in Pakistan?
