2 BSF men killed, 4 injured in Naxal encounter in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: Two BSF jawans were on Saturday killed while four others injured in a Naxal encounter in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district.

The encounter broke out early today between a Border Security Force patrol and armed Naxal cadres near the Chhotebethiya-Pakhanjore jungle axis of the Maoist violence- hit district, officials said.

"While two jawans have been martyred in the exchange of fire, four others have been injured," they said.

Skirmish took place at around 2:30 am when a composite squad of BSF and district force was on a special operation in the interior forests of Bande police station area of the district, Kanker Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jayant Vaishnav said over phone.

A joint squad of BSF's 117th and 122nd battalion along with district force had launched the anti-Naxal operation from Chhotebethiya camp of BSF in Pakhanjore region - located around 300 kms away from the state capital, the DSP said, adding that when the security forces reached near a river in the dense forest of Becha village, Naxals opened indiscriminate firing on them, leaving six jawans injured.

Two succumbed to their injuries while being airlifted to Raipur and four other injured have been shifted to Raipur and admitted at Ramkrishna Care Hospital, Vaishnav said.
The deceased jawans have been identified as Vijay Kumar and Rakesh Nehra, while the injured are Manoj Kumar, S Thomson, Jagdish K and Bappa D.

Both the personnel who were killed were inducted into the force in 2011-12.
According to police, ultras attacked on security personnel as a part of a one-day Bastar-bandh call today.

The bandh call was given by the naxals in protest against the alleged fake encounter and surrender of tribals in the region, according to posters pasted on the walls in different places.

Indeed a loss irreparable. One should understand that loss of such lives are based upon not of personal demand but a cause that they are fighting for since long and not new as well. Such movements or efforts cannot be ignored or forcibly be handled but indeed the grievances needs redressal and violence is not solution but will cause more violence. Hope for the peace and resolution of issues. Quoting Khi, Baluchistan or FATA etc is not new here by our neighbors but it will not alter or skip the reality of the subject.

Yes, that is an advantage you Pakistanis enjoy on PDF. You can post anything and write whatever, however Indians have to be circumspect on what to write, what to post and how to write. After all, we are in 'enemy territory'.
You are like a person who would ask for second serving and when you are full up to your ears, then you would complain about dishes weren't clean.....you spend all day on a Pakistani forum bad mouthing Pakistan, yet you still complain about privileges. How many Pakistanis are allowed on the Indian forums....the reason, it's just a case of blind leading blind.....you ideally belong there.
@ Topic, the incidents of Maoist insurgency take place almost daily, i guess Indian members are not keen to mention it since they are more concerned of what happens in Pakistan.

How do the Maoists get their logistics ? Why is it difficult to cut their supply line ?

There is not much logistics exists for Maoists. They use guerrilla tactics to surprise the security forces as Maoist used their superior knowledge of the terrain to their advantage.

Khobad Ghandy Acquitted of Terror Charges

By The Wire Staff on 10/06/2016Leave a comment

New Delhi: Maoist leader Khobad Ghandy, on Friday, was acquitted of all terror charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) by the Patiala House Court.

Ghandy — who has been in prison since 2009 after being arrested by Delhi Police on suspicion of being a member of the banned Communist Part of India (Maoist) — however was still convicted by the court on charges of cheating and forgery.

According to IANS, “Ghandy was acquitted under Section 20 & 38 of UAPA”, but was still convicted of “cheating, forgery and impersonation under the Indian Penal Code”.

Last year, The Wire covered Ghandy’s treatment as a prisoner in Tihar Jail. He had, at the time, claimed that he was in failing health and was not being treated accordingly.
