2 Greek fighter jets collide in mid-air
2 Greek fighter jets collide in mid-air | Antiwar Newswire
Two Greek fighter jets with a total of three crew members on board crashed in mid-air during a training exercise south of the island of Crete on Thursday, the air force said.
Rescue crews found two of the pilots, who were not believed to have been seriously injured, but were being transported to a nearby military hospital for checks, the air force said. Crews were searching for the third.
The F-16 planes one a single-seater and one a double-seater had been part of a formation of four planes on a training mission when they collided over the sea off the southern coast of Crete in the early afternoon, the air force said.
I thought F-16s were "superior" fighter jets.
