Turkmenistan has ordered to Turkey local-made armored vehicles

Turkey has delivered new local-made armored vehicles on contract to Turkmenistan. Some new Turkish armored vehicle were spotted at the military parade in the capital Ashgabat.

Turkmenistan on Thursday (Oct 27) marked 25 years of independence from the Soviet Union with celebrations across the country and a grandiose military parade, where was debuted new Turkish URAL tactical wheeled armoured vehicle and KIRPI mine-resistant, ambush-protected vehicles.

The URAL is an Otokar’s armoured personnel carrier with a versatile modular platform and an innovative feature set, that fulfils the requirements of even the most demanding missions. An all-around armoured hull fully protects the personnel against various threats; and thanks to the vehicle’s ample interior space, ergonomic full-size seats, parabolic spring suspension and biggest tire size in its class, URAL provides superior personnel comfort as well.

The Kirpi is a Turkish mine resistant ambush protected vehicle. It was developed by the Turkish BMC company to meet a Turkish Land Forces Command requirement. This company specializes in production of commercial trucks, busses and military vehicles. Turkish Army ordered a total of 468 of these MRAP vehicles. Another 200 were ordered by the Turkish law enforcement forces. It seems that deliveries commenced in 2014. Tunisia was the first export customer of the Kirpi with an order of 100 vehicles. The Kirpi has seen service during various military operations, that Turkey was recently evolved in. It proved to be a capable vehicle.
