WASHINGTON U.S. President Donald Trump urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to do more to relax Indian trade barriers on Monday during talks in which both leaders took great pains to stress the importance of a strong U.S.-Indian relationship. At a closely watched first meeting between the two, Trump and Modi appeared to be getting along well. Modi pulled in Trump for a bear hug on the stage as the cameras rolled in the Rose Garden.“I deeply appreciate your strong commitment to the enhancement of our bilateral relations," Modi told Trump. "I am sure that under your leadership a mutually beneficial strategic partnership will gain new strength, new positively, and will reach new heights.”Trump also was warm but made clear he sees a need for more balance in the U.S.-India trade relationship in keeping with his campaign promise to expand American exports and create more jobs at home. Last year the U.S. trade deficit with India neared $31 billion.Trump said he would like a trading relationship that is "fair and reciprocal."

Haha. The honeymoon is over for our Hindustani friends. We should notice how uncharacteristically quite they've been with this trip. One thing I must add is that Obama was an astonishingly weak president who made larger blunders for America than all other presidents combined.

He was an extremely foolish person who allowed America's designs against China to become exposed, and so gave the Chinese an excuse to make aggressive moves for the first time in its history. Before this era, China kept a lower profile to avoid entanglements with the super power of that day and so did not risk its economic development. Now that it is the emerging superpower, Obama gave it the carte blanche by announcing the true intent of the TPP and its alliance with India.

With Trump, Hindustan is now left high and dry. It's alliance with Russia is clearly weakened, its relationships with China and Pakistan in tatters, and its sole benefactor retreating from international politics.

Karma is what karma is known to be. And it is specially sweet when it happens to loudmouths like the Hindustanis.

I like his businessman approach, he campaigned on it and spoke of the protectionist import duties in places like India as trade barriers. Trump also mentioned this during their joint statement after the meeting.

This is dealmaker Trump making Modi happy before he milks the Indians by selling them advanced weapons.

Modi should do more, affordable Harley Davidson bikes.. yes please. Free and fair trade ftw

We need to improve our ease of doing business, GST may help a bit. Need to buy more weapons from US to reduce deficit its simple as that. Invest in renewable related field with companies like Tesla, in IT sector like Apple, QUALCOMM etc, there is $20 bn Westinghouse nuclear deal, buy f-18 for navy $15 bn MRCBF deal there are many field India can invest.

Haha.. Hindustan currently runs the largest fiscal deficit, at 6.9% in 2016 in Asia. That is when we don't count in the farm loan waivers and the demonetization blunder, and you suggest that Hindustan spend billions of dollars more on import of weapons? Niceee...

Get your facts right:
Arun Jaitley pegs fiscal deficit at 3.2% of GDP for 2017-18
Finance minister Arun Jaitley targets to achieve revenue deficit of 1.9% of GDP in 2017-18 from the earlier target of 2% of GDP.

Your response tells me that the topic has touched some nerves , here is more

Modi and Trump’s Meeting Went Great, Unless You Are an Indian Worried About H1-B Visas

Indian media, however, was not too happy with their prime minister, who, according to reports, did not bring up Trump’s possible restrictions on H1-B visas—an issue that before the visit was expected to cause friction.

Modi be like : Sorry Sir , ghaliti ho gai , no H1B not problem :D
