full transcript of the conversation from April 29, at the close of the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Manila, was leaked on Tuesday to both the Washington Post and The Intercept. A senior Trump administration official acknowledged the accuracy of the transcript to the Washington Post, while well-placed Philippines sources confirmed its authenticity to Philippines’ Rappler news.

Trump opened the friendly call by congratulating Duterte for his “unbelievable job on the drug problem.” But most of the conversation focused on the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, who continues to conduct missile tests in defiance of UN resolutions.

“What’s your opinion of him, Rodrigo?” Trump asked, wondering whether the North Korean leader is “stable or not stable?”

“He is not stable, Mr. President as he keeps on smiling when he explodes a rocket. He has even gone against China which is the last country he should rebuke,” Duterte replied. “But it seems from his face he is laughing always and there’s a dangerous toy in his hands which could create so much agony and suffering for all of mankind.”

The conversation between the two leaders took place just as North Korea launched a medium-range missile. The projectile known as a KN-17 appeared to have blown up a few seconds into flight. It was the second failed test of a ballistic missile that month.

“As long as those rockets and warheads are in the hands of Kim Jong-un we will never be safe as there’s no telling what will happen next,” Duterte told Trump, noting “we are all afraid” of Korean rockets.

At the time when the conversation took place, Washington had already sent the USS Carl Vinson to Korean waters. Just days before the conversation, the USS Michigan, a guided-missile submarine arrived in South Korea as an additional show of force amid tensions between the US and North Korea.

“We have lots of firepower over there. We have two submarines, the best in the world, we have two nuclear submarines – not that we want to use them at all,” Trump told Duterte, after earlier stating that an all-out conflict was a strong possibility.

“We have a lot of firepower, more than he has, times 20, but we don't want to use it,” the US leader reiterated.

Calling the North Korean leader a “madman” of this generation, Duterte warned Trump that he is dealing with a “very delicate problem” when it comes to North Korea. The Philippines leader stressed that China will play a key role in resolving tensions around Pyongyang's nuclear program, stating that “China is the ace.”

“At the end of the day, the last card, the ace has to be China. It is only China,” Duterte noted during the conversation, offering to call the Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

“You can tell him I am counting on him,” Trump replied. “I have a very good relationship with him... He is a good guy.”

“I hope China solves the problem,” Trump said. “They really have the means because a great degree of their stuff comes through China. They are doing certain things, like not accepting calls. But if China doesn’t do it, we will do it.”

So everybody is against poor fat Kim even Duterte??
To be honest, sometimes I feel sorry for N.Korea. I can't remember any country that is as isolated as them. :(

Duterte is a good guy but sometimes he becomes like a walnut spinning on the ice.

Lol walnut spinning on ice ?. If Duterte heard you say that about him, you will end up in front of a firing squad.:D

On a serious note, I don't see why you make such remarks against him. He has his own personality and views(I agree he's very emotional and even seem crazy at times), but you can't be praising him one moment because he said something you like/agree with(against the West/U S) and the next time you start calling him names because he said something you don't like(against fat Kim crazy Regime etc). So at least we should be consistent.
Now, Is he a crazy walnut spinning on ice or not? :P

Hey man condolences for the Manchester attack, your idiot governors should start working with Russia, i said that honestly.
Yes, I already know about all of Duterte's controversial remarks. for me he's just an emotional man(at least you agree with me on this) who says anything that comes out of his mouth without thinking. At least I never had mixed feelings about him. Lol

Same with Fat Kim , to me he's a crazy guy like Duterte said. I never had mixed feelings about him as well. So at least I'm consistent.

Well, i don't see the things black and white.
Kim is the bad guy because he didn't let the west to have a private bank in NK.

However, you can see me angry, seeing everything black when it is all about Israel

Well, at least you are honest. You are not alone though, majority of Muslim members on here(especially from South Asia countries like Pakistan,Bengladesh) hold similar views.:D

Kim is the bad guy for everyone to be honest, even China. Seems you are one of the only ones here who try and support Fat Kim(though it's understandable if we look at it from Iran's point of view being isolated by the world as well until the nuclear deal). So makes sense somehow.

He doesn't behave with wisdom. Always puts his people under hard conditions.
But i like his stance, the only man who has the guts of saying a big NO to imperialists and neo colonialists of USA so called neo conservatives.
Even Trump admired his courage, your orange lord :D

He's not the only one, there are several countries who have had that stance. In fact even China prior to 1980, but they realised that the soviet system they were following didn't pay off and even the soviet Union had turned hostile towards China to the point that the Chinese considered them their number 1 threat mobilizing hundreds of thousands of troops against the Soviet near their border with the Soviets. in fact they even clashed few times over territory. having considered all these, they made a strategic and well calculated move to shift towards the West as we had common interests against the Soviets. This also led to China opening up to the West/world for investments and trade. The rest is history , here they are today.
Fat crazy Kim like his father's before him have consistently refused to follow such a model deciding it's better to close off his country from the world (fearing his dynasty will be toppled if he opens the country up) and embark instead on a militaristic path at ALL COST. They don't listen to any advice, whether from China, Russia or whoever. They just do their thing and their people keep suffering/dying of hunger as a result, while being killed/massacred if they decide to flee/emigrate to a better country. In short the country is just a giant prison ruled by fear and brainwashing. Imagine you were a citizen of that country you won't be saying you admire fat Kim on here, you will be willing to kill him with your own bare hands I suppose. lol

Anyway, there's nothing to be admired on Fat Kim and his crazy family rule.

So according to you, if your people suffers but you have the image of a tough guy, that is a good deal.

Nah, he's saying that because he's not a N.Korean suffering from the Kim dynasty regime's reign of terror. :D. It's just PDF talk.

Too bad Fat Kim killed his Uncle and his Brother, otherwise China might have been able to get a favorable Government in place in North Korea.

Now he will kill anyone in his regime who he suspects is friendly to China. What a great ally.
