Terror bid foiled by Lahore police

LAHORE: Police successfully foiled a terrorism bid by seizing a truck containing a huge cache of explosive material from Shahdara Town of Lahore city, DawnNews reported.

During a routine search, police halted a truck on the Rawal bridge check post, where they examined 40 gunny sacks allegedly containing brimstone. A deeper inspection uncovered the explosives hidden in the vehicle.

Two suspects were also arrested from the site. One of the suspects belonged to Chakwal while the other hailed from Mardan district.

Police took both suspects to an unidentified location for interrogation.

The Pakistani security forces have uprooted the terrorists from their bases in Waziristan and FATA. In their last ditch effort, the terrorists have been trying to inflect as much destruction as possible. We have recently seen their attacks at a shrine in Islamabad and elsewhere in the country. We congratulate Punjab police on their vigilance in intercepting and seizing an explosive laden truck and avoiding a potential catastrophe. The region has suffered enough due the plague of terrorism and it is time for sustained peace to return for all.
