Indian army lodged a strong protest with its Pakistani counterpart on Saturday regarding shelling of the former's border posts and implications of such "provocative" actions for peace on the Line of Control (LoC), during a brigadier-level flag meeting at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch.

The half-an hour meeting took place at 11.30am between the teams led by Brigadier MK Mago, commander of Poonch brigade and Brigadier Talat from Pakistan.

Though defence authorities are tightlipped about the discussions and point raised during the meeting, PRO defence, Jammu, Col RK Palta said, "The meeting was held in an amicable environment for about half an hour at Chakan-da-Bagh."

Sources said that four officers each from both the sides took part in the meeting and the discussion was focused on four points, including air violations by Pakistan Air Force and truce violation and deliberate attempts by Pakistan soldiers to push intruders into India after causing forest fire on the LoC, which damaged the fence and mines laid by the Indian army to foil any attempt of anti-national elements.

Sources in the intelligence agencies said the Indian army warned its counterpart about the implications of frequent unprovoked and target firing on the forward LoC posts in Poonch and Rajouri sectors.

Such provocative actions by the Pakistan troops, as pointed out by Indian army officers, could also jeopardise the truce, which came into effect in 2003. They also informed their counterparts that it was the right of the Indian army to retaliate such misadventures by the Pakistan troops which had claimed lives of two Indian soldiers in Nagi Tekri area of Krishna Ghati sector.

Between June 11 and June 20, Pakistan army had violated truce more than nine times in which BSF constable PK Mishra and havildar Harvinder Singh of Grenadier Regiment sacrificed their lives and four soldiers were injured and air-lifted to army hospital at Udhampur for treatment.

Meanwhile, Pakistan agreed to resume bus service and trade activities from Poonch-Rawalkot LoC point from Monday. Trade activities and bus service on the LoC were stopped by Pakistan authorities due to tense situation in the wake of frequent ceasefire violations in Krishna Ghati sector.

At least now IA has made it clear to PA that these violations can ultimately result in scrapping of the truce agreement of 2003, this will be not good for any of the sides, so hope better sense prevail & there may be no more truce violations in the future.

They want to divert attention from their crisis to Boarder crisis. Simple.

This is basically all we hear from India, you broke truce, you crossed LoC, you shelled border posts.. :blah:

All I have to say is didn't India also do this too?

Its because of your past deeds when you gave cover fire to insurgents to enter into India....Whole world knows about it. Kargil is a great example of violation.
