Several countries also have substantial reserves on standby: South Korea's had been estimated at some 4.5 million plus 3.5 Paramilitary, Vietnam's at five million and China's 800,000.
Interesting Tidbit
North Korea has the highest number of troops in relation to its population - 47.85 per 1,000.
Despite its precarious economy, North Korea is the world's most militarized country, with one in five of its population in the armed forces, the highest military/civilian ratio.
