Time has not come to impose emergency in the country? I honestly believe that the present government is not able to cope with the challenges being presented to her and the ones lying ahead. I think the time has come to impose emergency in the country and the forces be allowed to do their job. Once the situation becomes more normal, the government can come back and resume her powers.

These are grave times, but with some courage, we can surely turn the tide. We must make full use of this chance and push all the unwelcomed Afghans back to where they belong. A stray bullet can also hit 5th columns like Fazl ur Rahman. All the parties doing politics in the name of religion must be uprooted mercilessly and those who appose must be killed along with the rest of the terrorists. I think Allah has given us an excellent opportunity to clear up the ***** of our society. Just a thought..:pakistan:

You want to allow Zardari to impose emergency (since I believe only he can do so as President under the constitution) and have him wield all that power?

The other option is the military. But the military itself has not magic wand to rectify the situation in Pakistan. In fact, were it to impose martial law, it may very well shift even more local support to the terrorists, as we saw occurring in the last year of the Musharraf regime.

Democracy only works with continuity, and only long term sustained policies will reform the LEA's. While that is little succor for those affected by the bad economic policies of this government, there is no other way IMO than to stick with it, and help play our role in encouraging the media and other Pakistanis to expose the poor policies of the GoP in the hope that they will be forced to change.

Looking at your avatar (the army's sword going through the constitution); I did not expect you to ask of an emergency rule

On a serious note: It is a sad situation though; but let the government function. We first want the army to come in; and when they do come in to power and not come up to our expectations then we curse them and say the civilian government was better.

Let the people see the good and bad of this government and vote them out of power next time around. It will take some time; maybe a decade or two for the people to educate themselves about who is for and who is against the country. Imposing emergency means fueling the self-destruct cycle of Pakistan.

Best way to leave things as is....right now this lame democracy is better. Even these PPP politicians are worthless and unable to deliver anything to public.
