INDIA THRISSUR 'POORAM' FESTIVAL IN KERALA-epa00994570 Tens of thousands of people gather to get a glimpse of the elephants arriving from the Vadakkumnathan temple bearing colourful parasols to take part in the 'Kudamattom' (umberella exchange) event on the penultimate day of the 'Pooram' Festival celebrations at Thrissur town in the state of Kerala, some 500 kms from Bangalore city, 27 April 2007. The grand finale of Pooram is the most colourful of all the temple festivals of Kerala and is celebrated at Thrissur's Vadakkumnathan temple in the month of Medam (April) which attracts thousands of devotees and tourists. The best elephants of the state from various temples in Kerala are sent to Thrissur to participate in the Pooram festival. EPA/MANJUNATH KIRAN

I saw this festival last year. Its really wonderful and no where in the world u would see such a beautiful festival. I like the decorated elephants most. Especally the golden plate "nettipattom". I heard that its gold plated.:tup:
