Been reading a great deal of " I won, you lost the last " here.
I request readers to go thru the two threads given at the end of this post. Without intending to sound philosophical I would like the ' firebrands' to watch / read the threads and come to their own conclusions.
What qualifies a win in a war ? There is a diff between wining a battle & a war. This needs no explaining. When in ur personal lives we win over an ailment, addiction or an adverse situation it would imply that we have overcome it to a point that it is now behind us.
I ask the readers which war meets this parameter ? We still fight & feel the aftereffects of the crusades that were fought centuries ago. How can we expect a recent war to be forgotten or to have solved a situation ?
No on wins a war. Did China win the 62 war ? Did India win in 71 or any other time ? Did Pak win 65 ?..No. For if they had, the problem would have been over.
Did the allies win the WW ? The cold war followed & is still being fought in one form or another. WW I created the foundation of WW II.
Those who have worn the uniform & served under a flag will recall the ' charged up' lives that soldiers, sailors & airmen lead. Each one of them looks forward to an opportunity to realise his dreams. Later , in saner moments when the enemy is met over a drink or socially one feels..heck, they are like us.
Is it worth it ?
I am not suggesting pacifism as when the need arises we must answer the call & fight. But till then, let peace prevail.
Lets not kill each other before the 1st bullet is fired.
