Big cats are not generally known for being friendly creatures but these adorable photographs show how a pair of newborn cubs have become the best of friends at a zoo in Japan.

The new arrivals, a lion and a tiger cub, are seen cuddling each other and play fighting like they were siblings.

They seem completely oblivious to their differences as they snooze side by side.

And it seems that their instincts have yet to kick in as they're even seen snuggling up to bunnies.

The furry creatures are pictured at African Safari, in Oita prefecture in the south of the country, where they were born earlier this year.

Staff from the zoo have been sharing images of the tiny cubs on Twitter, where thousands of users have since been cooing over the animals.

show inseparable tiger and lion cubs before their animal instincts kick in

One of my best mates at primary school (in HK) right from the start (5 years old 1st grade...or "primary one" as we called it) was Pakistani.

We always had each others backs...we were pretty much the only brown kids in school...and we made a pact to not be like our countries that always fought.

Before I left for Singapore, we were still close but the fraying had started (well it was to be expected at 11 years old I suppose)....and we lost touch for quite a while. Much later I found him on facebook (he in UK now, I in canada), and we simply cannot get along at all tbh....but I do fondly remember our childhood memories and wish a certain side of growing up didnt have to happen.

The cub pics reminded me of that time...it is bittersweet.

How cute .

. . . .

Thanks for the tag.

Though I don't like Lions but this one seems to be a atypical one - friendly.

Also, Cheetahs though being big cat are also not unfriendly to humans. I have seen many photos of them where they climb on the safari jeeps and stand there completely unafraid of the humans. These Cheetahs simple pose.

The baby tiger is cute.

Your favourite animal is cat, right?

Nope. that would be humans.

Well, I do like cats...but not so much those pet, cuddly cats. I like stray cats. They might not not be fluffy or cuddly like the pet cats. Despite all their daily struggles, they appear proud and wild. And if you look closely, you will see their wounds, and their cautious eyes. I like that.

I like wild or semi-wild animals more than the domesticated ones.

Well, all small cats, even the "domesticated ones", are mini wild life, as some PDF member put it some days ago.

Bu you put it well when you said that the stray cats have cautious eyes.
