Tesla’s First China-Built Model Y Will Be Delivered to Europe in August

The first of Tesla’s Model Y’s made in China will be handed over to European customers in August, the German news agency SPA reported, citing an official Tesla communication. The vehicles will be exported from the Tesla factory in Shanghai.

Tesla originally planned to start production of its Model Y at its new European factory in Gruenheide near Berlin in July this year with deliveries scheduled to begin in the third quarter, but production has been delayed to the end of this year or early next year.

Tesla now has a 90% local content ratio for its vehicles made in China.

So it is a win-win-win, Europe gets the electric cars and lower on-road emission, US gets the higher stock price of Tesla, China gets the components sourcing and jobs.

Hey we have no problem with US companies taking the profits of cars manufactured in China and exported to the EU if it impacts Chinese EV companies from increasing marketshare and expanding their workforce. Plus I'm sure there is added prestige in Chinese employees for working for a successful American auto company and seeing their cars outsell the one's manufactured by rival Chinese EV assembly lines.

So we know who is holding the hangman's rope.

The German plant will be done soon.

Tesla from China is good news for other countries in the region as well. Easier to import from China hopefully.
