Telangana releases youth with IS links, IB unhappy
IB wants action against these youth, but the police is under pressure to be lenient

S RAMA KRISHNA Hyderabad | 1st Nov 2014
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Telangana police differ on the strategy they should pursue to deal with the youth who are in touch with terror outfits such as the Islamic State (IS). While the IB wants stern action against these youth, the police is being accused of handling them with kid-gloves under pressure from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi-led state government. They first took into custody several youth including a former Google techie in the last two weeks for their alleged links with the IS, but let them off subsequently. The IB top brass is agitated over the intense activity by a slew of outfits to lure Muslim youth into the terror network and thinks that the state police should book cases against the arrested persons. But the K. Chandrasekhar Rao government prefers a soft approach on the ground that any harsh measures would be counter-productive.

"The situation is serious, with more than half a dozen outfits luring the youth with the propaganda that Islam is in danger. Social media, religious gatherings and community functions are being used to spread this falsehood. It was not right on the part of the police to release those who were found to have contacts with the IS," a source in the IB said.

Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy claimed that the police released the youth as they had regretted planning to join the terror outfit. "We have conducted counselling sessions for them in the presence of their family members. We know their movements," Reddy told this newspaper.

In the last one month, the police in Hyderabad has arrested eight persons who wanted to join the IS. It has also tracked down another 300 youth in the age group of 18-35 years who were regular visitors to radical websites.

In particular, the police was surprised to hear former Google software engineer Munawad Sultan (30) admit that gave up his job to join the IS to save Islam. Sources in the Special Investigation Team of the city police said that Munawad received several calls from Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. Some unidentified persons also deposited Rs 1 lakh in his account for his travel to Iraq through Saudi Arabia.

Munawad gave up his Google job in February so that he could devote his life for the cause of Islam by joining the IS. This Tamil Nadu born techie told the police that it would be a matter of days before the IS reached India through Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The police had also taken into custody two youth, Shah Mudassir and Shoeb Ahmed Khan, who belong to Aurangabad in Maharashtra, but came to Hyderabad to join a network which propagates the Al Qaeda cause. They were released after their family members assured the police that they would take care of them.

The city police also wanted to release four youth, Ejaz Ahmed, Zakir Hussain, Aslam Shaik and Amzad Khan, who were suspected to have sent money to the Burdwan bomb factory in West Bengal, after robbing a bank in Karimnagar. However, the National Investigation Agency prevailed upon the police to keep the youth in custody. These youth were in touch with several IS and Al Qaeda moles.

I knew my CM KCR was a man who would do anything for votes, but I never thought(before the elections) that he would reach such danegrous limits for the sake of Muslim votes.

I would like to tell my fellow Indians here that don't be surprised at such incidents from the Telangana govt.
TRS(the ruling party) has formed an alliance with MIM for the Municipal Elections in Hyderabad, infact in the last 3 months there has been massive Muslim-appeasement from this government. This appeasement has been worse compared to the previous COngress govt.

Very good. True faces of secular parties are coming to the fore at full force in the past couple of months. First SP, then TMC and now TRS.

Politics and appeasement is one thing, but being anti national (like Burdwan and now this ISIS link in Hyderabad) is being a traitor who deserves no mercy.

KCR seems to be on all out quest to show he is sickular number one in India. It seems to me like he wants to bite into the MIM vote bank maybe? Atleast thats what I gather from most of the appeasement type news coming from there. But this is just getting to dangerous levels. I have no idea about TG politics myself though.

I don't like what this KCR is doing for the sake of votes in TG. if he keeps this up people will kick him out of power sooner than he thinks.
TG cannot become a West Bengal or Kerala for TRS vote bank politics, a terrorist should be dealt as one, no kid gloves.

If you want to know more about the politics in TG, please check the posts of @wolfschanzze @jha and mine on the thread:- Indian political discussions.

TRS is the ruling party in TG, It has a simple majority. (65/119)It has formed an alliance with MIM for the municipal elections in Hyderabad.
It's leader is K Chandrashekhara Rao. TRS is yet another family-based dynast party.

The second largest party is COngress.(21 seats)

The third largest is NDA(TDP-15,BJP-5)

We are all aware of what kind of state Telangana is becoming and why it was formed. A den of infestation by Owaisi brothers, it will soon emerge as a terror hub, far exceeding Kerala, UP and West Bengal.

IB should have taken the matters into their hands and dealt with it in the manner a central force would deal. Giving it to Telangana which is co-run by a terrorism patron isn't a wise thing.

Hahahahahaha..hardly surprising..
Before blaming and calling others as sickularist, look at your own dirty hands first....
No wonder, owasi jihadi scums are roaming freely in telegana..

This is why i feel TN mummy is better, though she is corrupt. Always dare to face elections on her own will. Wont budge to anyone even with alliance leaders... Sickular parties will do anything for votes.

When karuna was in power many supported LTTE openly. When Amma came, hardly those people opened their mouth.

People voted for KCR because of the Telangana Sentiment, he had promised to make a Golden Telangana-prosperous and developed.
His 'sickular' side came out after he came to power. Nobody thought he would do such things, even his worst haters didn't expect this of him.

Naidu had almost finished Owaisi in 2004. If it wasn't for 'sickularists' like the Congress and the communists(who are the major parties of your state)who came together to defeat Naidu in 2004, he would have been finished.

And don't worry about us Telanganaites, we will give a good thrashing to these Islamist scum when we get the opportunity. As for KCR, the people of Telangana will give him a good kick in the back in the municipal elections and the assembly elections in 2019.

If I was you, I would be more concerned about the actions of radicalised wahaabis returning from the gulf to my state rather than mock and laugh at another state.

All said TG will never become a terrorist hub like WB and kERALA simply because we dont have the disease of pseudo secularism as both those states i mentioned are afflicted with.We have a pro-hindutva history and you cant wish that away, all of this only prepares ground for eventual ascension of BJP to power in Telangana.
