Talks to begin Monday for promoting trade with India
APP
Two day Commerce Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan would be held on Monday in New Delhi with special focus on boosting trade between the two countries.

The trade and commerce officials of India and Pakistan would discuss issues related to trade and commerce on November 14 and 15, official sources said.

Commerce Secretary Zafar Mehmood is leading a Pakistani delegation to negotiate with Indian commerce officials, various trade related issues and find out ways for boosting bilateral trade between the two countries.

“The issues to be discussed in the meeting would include removal of non-tariff barriers, granting of Most Favored Nations (MFN) status to India and positive and negative lists for trade,” a commerce official told APP here Sunday.

The Indian side would be led by Indian Secretary Commerce Rahul Kullar, the official said and expressed the hope that some tangible results are expected to come out of this crucial meeting in terms of enhancing trade between the two neighboring countries.

He said that both the countries were moving on right direction as the Indian side has been supporting free access of Pakistani products to European Union Markets.

While, on the other hand, the federal cabinet of Pakistan has also decided to approve granting the MFN status to India.

“These moves show positive trends towards boosting trade relations,” the official observed adding that both the sides are extremely optimistic about the positive outcome of the meeting.

Sources said that other issues that may come up for discussion include progress on initiatives on trade of electricity, ways to substantially expand trade in all types of petroleum products and cooperation in Information Technology sector.

The two sides may also deliberate on opening of bank branches in each other’s countries, they said.

It is pertinent to mention here that during the recent visit of Commerce Minister, Makhdoom Amin Fahim to India, both the countries resolved to double their trade up to $ 6 billion during next couple of years.

The Secretary level talks are expected to come out with very positive results as these are following the recent positive meeting between the prime ministers of both the countries at the sidelines of 17th Saarc summit in Addu, Maldives.

This government's gone crazy. Bharat is supporting TTP and BLA, trying to kill our people and destabilize us, separate Balochistan from Pakistan, and these people want to be friends with bharat? Quite preposterous. Hopefully a new government will end this madness in early 2013.

The talk should be focused on boosting Pakistani export to India.
Money saved by trading with Bharat will be beneficial to us only..learn the art of economic warefare from China and Israel!

Even Muslims traded with the Byzanitte and Majoos despite open animosity towards them!

Pakistan is in deep economic mess and only way to come out of it is increasing the trade instead of taking more imdaad. Increasing trade with India could swing Pakiastan's GDP growth by 1-2% for present rate of 2-3%. Anyway, Pakistan is also responsible for supporting terror groups against India. And India don't support TTP & BLA.

We can easily come out of the economic problems by ending the WoT. Bharat has no role to play in Pakistan.

And yes, Bharat does supporting TTP and BLA. That's why we should have nothing to do with them.

India has to make sure that we do not make any concessions without taking adequate precautions and a sound analysis of the pros and cons. Indian Textile industry needs adequate protection against cheap Bangladeshi and Pakistani imports. Congress govt. needs to come out of its "please thy neighbor" mentality and help local industry in this time of deep financial mess which is more or less of the governments making. Implement major reforms stuck in the house and streamline labour laws if we are to allow a level playing field for Indian industry. We need to make sure that we increase our manufacturing exports with a special focus on chemicals, machinery, pharma, auto and services. With our trade deficit ballooning, it is high time we make amends.

If India support TTP/BLA then why don't your government present proof. Rahman Malik is saying we will present proof when time comes, what a stupidity. India can't support BLA because it don't want to annoy Iran and it is funny that Hindus will support Kafir hating TTP.

Also your only solution is to increase the trade with other country(may not be India) to come out of economic chaos and all other solution you are proposing is just fantasy. Also India itself took 12 years to come out the mess of economic chaos of 1991, i think it is be applicable for Pakistan also.

I dont understand also Why Pak is giving this MFN status when most of its citizens are angry in providing it...I beleive it is time India should withdraw MFN status to Pakistan ..I know that one day pakistan will be a rich nation with support of their muslim umma nation....

You want evidence?

Here it is.

Video to go along with as well.

How does Iran come into the equation? Iran has no problems with Bharat supporting BLA.

As far as coming out of economic problems, the solution I am giving IS what will solve the problem. If US were to leave Afghanistan, our economic growth rate will rebound to 6-8%.

He's a known terrorist confessing. Who he's confessing to, or whether he's Pakistani, is completely irrelevant. What difference does it make who he confesses to? He confessed, that's what matters. It's on a video too.

The hypocrisy continues btw. These are same types of proof bharatis have been using against Pakistan showing 'ISI supporting Taliban'. Epic nation of hypocrite, Bharat.

I think you too know Iran has problem of Balochi insurgency in Sistan wa Balochistan.
Also I was talking about proof from Rahman Malik. Rehman Malik ki kya majboori hai. Also this guy belongs to Lashkar e Jhangi an anti-Shia group getting funds from gulf. Also anyone will speak after getting 3-4 lathis by agency and will speak what agency want him to speak.
Because your government is incompetent, so they blame India to hide it, India is in Karachi killing, India supporting TTP, India caused 2010 floods by releasing water :blah::blah::blah: . Pakistan wastes 35% of its water and also blame India for water scarcity in Pakistan. :hitwall:

No harm in trading with India as long as it does not generate any Trade Deficit for us. If they dont buy as much of our goods as we buy theirs, then it is bye bye time.

I think 1/4 of your export goes to US, where as your major imports are from China. Your country is already dumped with Chinese goods.
