Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Capital Development Authority (CDA), Transport Companies and Ministry of Railways have decided to jointly work for establishing a monorail system in the twin cities.

The RCCI is also considering starting CNG bus service with the collaboration of the Punjab government to facilitate the commuters and to reduce the pollution in the city, said Kashif Shabbir President RCCI.

He was talking to media men right after the meeting with the Secretary Transport Punjab Muhammad Yousaf here at the chamber on Tuesday.

He said that establishment of monorail system in the region was the top priority demand of the business community. Owing to increase in traffic and non-availability of proper parking places traffic jams have become a common exercise. “Business community has been facing huge problems relating to transportation of goods between the twin cities in this regard,” he remarked.

About the meeting he said Secretary Transport has invited the businessmen community of the region to invest in the CNG bus service scheme of Punjab. The secretary also assured 20 per cent equity to the members of RCCI and business community.

Kashif said that monorail project would increase the business activities in the region and help decreasing traffic burden on roads.
