Sources said the action was ongoing since Friday, adding that during the search conducted in the area, a security forces surrounded a compound from where armed men started shooting. The exchange of fire lasted for several hours during which the armed men also attempted to escape.

Four of the terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire from security forces personnel who recovered two Kalashnikovs, a pistol and other ammunition from the compound. It was not clear whether there were any other men present at the compound or if the security forces took any men into custody.

As part of a joint search operation carried out by the police and the Frontier Corps (FC) across various areas of Mastung, at least 17 terrorist suspects were captured and presented before the media.

Colonel Azam of the FC briefed the media, saying that a massive search operation was carried out jointly at various areas of Mastung, including Dareen Garh, Kanak, Babari, Kandhawa, Umerabad, Nawazan, Besham, Koshak, Dolai and Kali Nihal, on the direction of the Balochistan provincial government.

Separatist literature, maps recovered by FC in Turbat raid
Separatist literature, maps recovered by FC in Turbat raid – The Express Tribune

QUETTA: A large quantity of anti-Pakistan literature as well as maps of a separate Balochistan were recovered during a raid of Attashad Degree College in Turbat district of Balochistan, Express News reported on Monday.

A Baloch student had reportedly taken over a hostel in the college and a Frontier Corps (FC) spokesperson claims he was brainwashing students to conduct acts of terrorism in the country.

The recovered material included separatist leaflets, banners and posters. The books include Nehru and Gandhi’s biographies as well as books about Baloch separation. The books were printed in Karachi and neighbouring countries.

The Frontier Corps had conducted the raid after receiving a tip about the operation. No arrests were made and the student in question fled before the FC arrived.

The FC handed the investigation into the hostel over to the police and more raids will be conducted in the area.

Child tortured

On January 12, the tortured and bullet-riddled body of a 10-year-old was found in Turbat. The victim’s elder brother is a campaigner for the Baloch separatist movement, according to sources.

A Baloch Student Organisation Azad spokesperson accused security agencies of being behind the incident. Security agencies have denied charges of involvement in any illegal detention or dumping of bodies.

HOPE FOR US ALL
At this critical juncture once our country is facing number of challenges, the worst role that can be played is to scandalize and undermine security forces which are performing their duties at the cost of their lives. It so happens once one newspaper presents a picture of a meeting, which strangely was missed by dozen of other media representatives, to grind its ax for unknown reasons. Such was the case reported in the editorial titled “Their Last, Best Hope” published in The News’ of 24 January. It was startling to read the statements attributed to IGFC Balochistan, to have been made during meeting of Senate Standing Committee for Interior and Narcotics Control. To put the record right, correct version of what was stated by IGFC is as follows. First; in response to a query IGFC proffered before the Committee that Mr Shahzain Bugti and his caravan’s personnel have every right to come to Dera Bugti, however to reduce chances of tribal feud, some administrative steps like prevention of entry of arms and registration of people coming to the area were suggested to Provincial Government, and at no stage the words like ‘his caravan was filled with terrorists’ were said. Secondly; it was no less than blatant misinformation that FC views only the sub nationalists as terrorists and those involved in sectarian killings are nowhere in sight of FC. It may be pertinent to mention that exclusive security umbrella of FC, at Hazara Community residential areas in Quetta, escorting the Zaireen to and from Iran, and various operations even recently conducted against religious extremists nullify the assertion. Third; IGFC while stating the prevailing condition in schools actually stated the root cause of subversion and the complacent neglect of concerned authorities. Fourth; it is an absolutely prejudiced stance where a contempt notice, which has already been withdrawn after due legal process is referred to and all other appearances of IGFC before the Honorable Supreme Court have been overlooked. Last but not the least, it would be appreciated if sub-judice cases are not commented upon, as is the case in civilized societies. In the end it is not reactive, proactive or aggressive approach rather prudent and active Supreme Court which is a “Hope for Us All”.

I think its same with the people, when some one dies lot of politicians and their activists blame army but when there is a success no politician is there to tell job well done.
