Pak Jamaat urges Muslim countries

Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan (JIP) has sought intervention of Muslim countries against victimisation of Jamaat-e-Islami and its leaders in Bangladesh.
Talking to BBC Bangla service yesterday, JIP Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan said, The trial of Jamaat leaders and declaring of the partys registration [with the EC] illegal are not internal issues of Bangladesh. A Muslim nation reserves the right to intervene in others affairs.
Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia and Turkey should mount pressure on the Bangladesh government to end this injustice to Jamaat, he added.
In 1971, Jamaat-e-Islami had fought for defending the sovereignty of Pakistan. That is why the Pakistan government should now mount pressure on the Bangladesh government, he argued.
The High Court on Thursday declared the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami with the Election Commission illegal.
That day, the JIP chief in a statement termed the cancellation of registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami illegal, reports Pakistani English daily The News.
He said the judgment of Bangladesh High Court was unconstitutional, partial and biased.
Democratic forces in the world and the Muslim states were criminally silent over the state oppression against Jamaat, he mentioned.
Islamabads terming the matter an internal issue of Bangladesh was the worst form of injustice, and totally unexpected, added the JIP leader.
Regarding the trial of Jamaat leaders, he said this has been so far done by a so-called tribunal, but now the HC had stepped in to do the same.
The registration of Jamaat, complained Munawar, had been declared unlawful to keep it away from elections.
The Hasina Wazed government wanted to keep Jamaat away from people and crush it at the behest of India, whereas a majority of the Bangladeshi people stood by Jamaat, read the statement.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Ameer Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari expressed concern over declaring Jamaats registration illegal.
Talking to BBC Bangla service on Thursday, he said the decision of the HC was undemocratic. He claimed that the allegation against Jamaat that the party denied the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh was false.
An evil attempt was being made to keep the organisations, which work in the name of Islam in the whole world, away from elections, he complained.
He also alleged that the Jamaat leaders were being punished illegally in connection with incidents that had occurred 40 years ago and that it was a part of that injustice to keep the leaders away from polls.
