This is an old video in Youtube (2014). Just watched it while browsing through. Saw it fully and saddened by the plight of the native people. No hard feelings towards British or American members here(as any country in that same position including India would have done the same thing), but that was really very very sad. At least these two countries could have taken those 7000 people into their embrace and let them live a decent citizen of their countries. They were only 7000, all Christians and no trouble makers, unlike the persons whom now they are taking in.

Well that particular island has a bit of s sad story. It was originally uninhabited and remote when the French landed there. After owning it for a long time they decided why do all the manual labor themselves when they could just import some slaves. After that they decided why not make the entire island a big slave plantation.

So they then brought over lots of slaves to work plantations on the island. Then they ended up signing the island over to the British as some war reparation or something. By then the people had been in servitude for generations. The Brits just let them be and kicked out the French. But in the late 60's they decided to kick out the rest.

So are they the "native" people. Well...you could argue the French are the native people who got kicked off.

This did happened in Sri Lanka and now the aliens are called "Natives" by US and Britons. Quite an irony isn't it.

It's a sad state of affairs there, but emotions and other human feelings are a taboo when it comes to"national interests", the successor takes all the queen's jewels-----

Guess what UK achieved in return?
United Kingdom received a US$14-million discount from the United States on the acquisition of submarine-launched ballistic missile system Polaris missiles per a now-declassified addendum to the 1966 agreement.

How does one feel when one gets deported from his/her own country? devastated!!!

OK, you may be right that they were not native, but still your country could have taken them under your wings at least. They seem to be so innocent unlike those flooding Europe or US from.....you know where.

I agree on this one

Certainly throwing them all on a boat and then dumping them penniless on some foreign beach was horrible. They should have paid to build them housing and then given them a cash payment every year for say 15 years.
