Hope it works. They have to be very accurate in landings which is usually does but in the past when the fins fail, it could veer off probably even hit the tower.

Certainly it is questionable as to how much last second horizontal/lateral ability the booster will have if it is the same design as the falcon 9 (which is minimal).

So far they have only shown this ability with the spacecraft in early tests.

One big change however is the Raptor engines have far more throttling ability than the Merlins (close to nonexistent) so that should buy them more time with a hovering capability.
