Sri Lanka Satellite Launch on November 22: Breaking news

Sri Lanka would enter the space era on November 22 when the country’s first satellite takes to the orbit from Beijing, China at 9 30 pm Sri Lanka time. In seven minutes it would be positioned over Sri Lanka.

For the first time the Sri Lankan national flag would be displayed in orbit with the launch of the satellite.

The total investment for the project is estimated at US $ 360 million which also included the construction of the satellite & the Management Station in Kandy which is now in progress.

The satellite project was a joint venture with China Great Wall Industry Corporation & Sino Satellite Comunications Company Ltd.

Congrats to SL all right !! But they do not have a hand in building that satellite!! I do not mean to belittle SL, but its a JV between two chinese companies, and SL is just paying it , its like a buyer seller relationship !!
Buts it would be great fa them to see SL flag in space !! Congrats again!!

According to info what I have got we don't have full ownership, This satellite is fully controlled by China. Even Sri Lankans don't have idea there is a project next month. so this is another move by China.

SL full ownership satellite will reach the space in 2015.
