One of the Bollywood's most successful movies- Sholay- is set to entertain film buffs once again, this time in a three dimensional version. Exactly 37 years after the release of super hit film featuring the film industry's most remembered pair of Jai and Veeru, the movie would now be released afresh in 3D format on the coming Independence Day.
In the new version, the viewers might feel themselves to be a part of the several action sequences involving superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra as they take on the notorious Gabbar Singh and his team of dacoits, enjoy Helen's dance in a new way or might even get scared by the anger of late Amjad Khan as the gang leader.
Sholay, the most popular movie of the 1970s and Indian cinema's evergreen classic, would open at the silver screens yet again in 3D on August 15, the same day it released in 1975.
Using conversion software especially developed for the movie, 90 per cent of it has already been completed. Sholay was produced by G.P. Sippy and directed by Ramesh Sippy. Apart from Big B, Dharmendra and Amjad Khan, the cult film also starred Hema Mailini, Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bachchan.
It revolved around two criminals Jai and Veeru who were hired to capture the ruthless gangster, Gabbar. The storyline of the film was inspired by the Hollywood flick Magnificent Seven.
