Slow release of funds mars federal development projects

Progress of federal development projects has been marred by slow disbursement of funds as only Rs 249 billion have so far been disbursed for these projects in the first eight months.

According to the official statistics, Rs 525 billion were allotted for the federal development projects for financial year of 2014-15. However, only Rs 249.91 billion have so far been disbursed during the first 10 months. This makes only 47 per cent of the total development budget.

Statistics show that Rs 34 billion have been disbursed for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission while the National Highway Authority (NHA) was given Rs 34 billion. Approximately Rs 26.94 billion were disbursed for National Health Services, Rs 26.96 billion for Pakistan Railways, Rs 25 billion for water-related projects while Rs 25 billion were disbursed for electricity projects. Rs 1.5 billion have so far been disbursed for education related projects.

Government has allocated an amount of 423 billion rupees for development projects. The remaining amount of 102 billion is to come from foreign aid (not in govts control). So far govt has released 192 billion from the allocated 423 billion. This is 45%.

last year govt allocated 430 billion and ended up releasing 315 billion which is 73%. In March last year, govt had only released 41% of the funds. It seems this year will be slightly better. Hopefully govt should be able to release around 80% of the allocated funds.

however, it will be more useful to know how much was the govt able to spend. Data on release of funds may give the wrong impression that all of these funds were spent.

LOL so the excuse is that foreign aid hasn't arrived. And where is the proof that the foreign aid hasn't arrived ?

These duffers are really funny :omghaha:
