KARACHI: Ambassador of Ukraine in Pakistan Mr. Volodymyr Lakomov, urged Karachi chamber of commerce and industry to play its role to give momentum to trade and economic activities between the two countries and to give concrete proposals to strengthen ties between the business communities of the two countries and to create the win/win situation.
He said Pakistan is a different country from what its perception is depicted and it has great potential to progress and prosper. He further said there are great similarities between the two countries and there is need to closely link shipping activities between Port Qasim and Ukrainian ports.
He was discussing this during his visit to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He further said Pakistan Ukraine Business council is formed and is in important initiative to boost bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry , Mian Abrar Ahmad apprised him the role being played by KCCI to boost trade ties between Pakistan and other countries and to conduct various activities like b2b meeting, organizing exhibitions, exchange of business delegations etc.
He said Pakistan despite the ally of USA and EU, is badly discriminated in providing its products access to their markets and export beyond a certain limit is not allowed. He said keeping in view this discrimination he advocated regional trade and recently Pakistan agreed to grant MFN status to India because the decades old animosity between the two countries is major hindrance in developing substantial trade in the region. By promoting regional trade Pakistan can move forward rightly to enhance its exports and can promote peace and prosperity in the region.
He said during his recent visit to USA as a leader of KCCI delegation, he stressed USA legislators, policy makers and business leaders that Vice President KCCI, Zia Ahmed Khan, Muhamamd Haroon Agar, Shamim Ahmed Firpo, Eng. M. A. Jabbar, Naeem Ahmed, Akhter Jameel Rehmani, Asif Sheikh Javaid, Sohail Farooq, Anis Majeed, Asif Nisar, Rizwan Abdul Razzak, Sohail Ahmed and other were also present on the occasion.
