After dismissing Australia’s Glenn Maxwell, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi became the second player to have scored 10,000 runs and, also take 500 wickets in international cricket career in yesterday’s World Twenty20 cricket cup match between Pakistan and Australia at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

He has 10,407 runs and 501 wickets to his name from 477 matches, only second to retired South African legend Jacques Kallis with 25529 runs and 577 wickets.

The closest active player to this record is West Indies’ Chris Gayle, who, statistics-wise is pretty far behind with just 244 wickets to his name.

Afridi also became the fourth Pakistani bowler to have taken 500 or more wickets, a feat Wasim Akram (916 wickets), Waqar Younis (789 wickets) and Imran Khan (544 wickets) had achieved before him.
