GAZA CITY Several people were wounded when shooting broke out in the Gaza Strip on Saturday between two groups of Palestinian radicals belonging to the same family, security forces and witnesses said.
A large number of security forces belonging to the Islamist group Hamas, which controls Gaza, intervened and re-established calm, cordoning off the area in Sabra, just south of Gaza City.
The shooting was among members of the Doghmush clan, one of the largest families in Gaza, with factions loyal to the Army of Islam and to Alwiyat al-Nasr, an offshoot of the Popular Resistance Committees, a Hamas security source said.
It was said to have resulted from family differences.
