The recent spate of news floating around the Internet which claim a blast at the Mukhabarat al-Aa'mmah or General Intelligence Directorate of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh are absolutely fake and concocted, said a senior Saudi security official when contacted by this scribe.

The news originated from a small Yemen-based news outlet Al Fajr and soon made headlines on international Iranian news websites such as Press TV (click here) and FARS News (click here). Subsequently, the fabricated material made its way to several blogs and forums.

The short news stint also alleged that Saudi Arabia's deputy spy chief who is subordinate to the newly-appointed chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan was killed in this blast. This was also rejected in strong terms.

"There was no security breach at all in the Headquarters", said an intelligence official on condition of anonymity. "The deputy spy chief, equipment, control rooms, all are fine and well".

"We fail to understand why Iran's media outlets rushed to spread this fabricated story, either their informers are of zero credibility or they published it for a nefarious agenda. Time will tell".

Salman,

Just a 'brotherly' advice. Please try to be neutral on the forum (at the least). You might have hatred for Iranians but present or prove it in a proper way. People generally tend to take you as a extremist which I believe you are. I am no fan of Iran myself but you do not see me posting such comments. Refrain from doing those. As for the part of 'Allah wants test from each and every Muslim', this life is a test for each and every human which you know very well. There are all sort of good and bad things/people in the life you got to deal with and everyone has their purpose of being exist and being in your life. If you put forward your views in a more neutral and polished way, I'm absolute sure that many people on the forum would have to agree with it.

On the actual topic, it is just propaganda nothing has happened. Very pathetic reporting Al-Fajr whereas even pathetic was reporting by Press TV and FARS, for not checking authenticity of claims. Press TV certainly needs to get it's license snatched. Two of it's most hilarious news reports which I would always remember are claiming that the US forces attacked Pakistan a few months back when chances of war were present (apparent), and King Abdullah of KSA is in coma after death of Prince Naif (ex-crown minister).
