how the hell the junkies can get money to buy drugs just beyond my understanding

I was there last month, I will never move to SF or the bay area, in its current condition. Its a city that has become a housing and restaurant scene for the tech workers and those that serve them. The last echos of the free spirits that made this city what it was have either died out or moved away over a decade ago. Even the bay area seems like a ghost town. You need a middle class to give an area life, and California is driving their's out under the burden of high prices for everything, and onerous regulations preventing building the housing to make the housing market affordable. A decent commuter rail system that gets workers and residents around the bay area would allow the state to house people further out, and for God Sake, build Mental Hospitals for these poor people.
