If the Falcon Heavy lifts off it will all be worth it. It will be the most powerful rocket since the Saturn V and it will be reusable - opening up an enormous opportunity for large numbers of heavy space launches relatively cheaply.

Actually, no, the Soviet Energia Rocket of the 1980s and 1990s was more powerful. And the Falcon Heavy can put about 50 tonnes to LEO. The Saturn V could put 130 to LEO and 50 to Lunar Orbit.......... in other words Saturn V could as much cargo 400,000 KM up as the Faclon Heavy can to 400 KM. The Energia could put up 100 tonnes,

The Shuttle SRB were also reusable and they were more expensive to use then the expendable Soyuz. The actual experience has been that reusable often turns out much more expensive in practice then on theory. So, I resevr judgement on the Falcon Heavy. And SpaceX in general. THey have some good people, Musk is a snake oil salesman, but there technical crew is as good as any.
