Published: December 15, 2011
ISLAMABAD (APP) - Pakistan’s missions abroad have collected an amount of around Rs 13.361 billion for providing visa and other consular services during the last five years.

As per data, the amount collected through such services included Rs. 3.572 billion in financial year 2005-06, Rs. 2.297 billion in 2006-07, Rs. 2.093 billion in 2007-08, Rs. 2.478 billion in 2008-09 and Rs. 2.919 billion were collected during 2009-10.

As per standing instructions, consular fee is charged on consular services by the Mission on behalf of Ministry of Interior, Islamabad, and every month the credit on this account is duly accounted for in the monthly cash account by the Missions.

The Office of the Chief Accounts Officer on receipt of monthly cash accounts, transfers the amount to the respective account of Ministry of Interior.

The Mission however, charges 20% over and above the consular fee which is transferred to the Pakistan Community Welfare & Education Fund (PCW&EF) and to the Fund for Improvement of Government Owned Buildings (FIGOB) equally, i.e. 10% to each.
