The last stop on the Blue Line of the Delhi Metro is all set to produce its own power to meet its immediate needs.

The Dwarka Sector-21 metro station will be the first to have a solar power plant installed on its rooftop with a production capacity of 500 kWp. The plant is expected to start production within six months.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation signed a power purchase agreement with a multinational firm engaged in installation and production of solar power worldwide. The DMRC chose the Dwarka station to install the first rooftop power plant. The pact was signed in the presence of DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh.

The DMRC will explore the possibility of installing more such plants at its stations, parking lots and residential complexes. Under Phase-III of its construction, the DMRC is trying to integrate such solar plants with the station structures.
