few years ago my uncle came from Kashmir on vacations. he told us many stories but here is one which I just verified when I heard it from another person who is my colleague in office. when he told me about that incident I was really surprised and then realized that my chacho was not just telling us a story but it was a real incident.
a niazi pathan was serving in Kashmir (sector not told to me) . he was given a night duty of guard(sentry they call him) at his post. during his duty he fell asleep. unfortunately for him his JCO, the subedar sahab went to check the soldiers on duty. Subedar sahab found him sleeping and got angry. Now instead of awaking him, the JCO took niazi gun with him and left him sleeping.
When niazi woke up, he found his gun missing. he searched for it all around but couldn't find it anywhere. he thought that the indian soldiers in the post in front of him stole his gun.
it was a do and die situation for him. his honour was stolen. he would have to face court Marshall due to losing his gun. with so many thoughts in mind,he decided to take action and bring his gun back from the Indians .
he silently crossed the loc and started crawling towards the Indian post. he went near it and sit there in hiding. Indian post was guarded by a sentry too. but he was sitting there undetected.
after sometime Indian soldiers at post was changing the guard. While they were about to change the duties, the Indian guard left his gun there and and went toward the post to call the next guard to duty.
niazi found his moment of opportunity. he took the gun and came back silently to his post.
when his duty time was over he submitted his gun. the soldier who took it never noticed that it was not G3 but some Indian gun.
Niazi went to his barrack to sleep.
in the morning the JCO sent a soldier to call niazi into his soldier. When he told niazi about JCO order, niazi felt angry, but any how he had to go with him.
in the JCO office, JCO was hoping to teach him a lesson. when he entered the office JCO immediately asked for the gun. Niazi angrily told him that he had submitted the gun.JCO took him to the depot.They counted the guns and the number was complete. JCO recounted it several times and was confused about the count. He took out the gun he kept in his office and belonged to Mr. Niazi and told him that he had his gun. when the rechecked the guns,they found an Indian gun.
Now everyone was surprised and wanted to know the truth. on putting some pressure on Niazi. Mr.Niazi told them that how he crawled and stole Indian gun. He showed them his injured arms and legs ,while crawling on a mountain and told them whole story.
the incident was immediately reported to CO sahab, who too enjoyed the story and was surprised too.
meanwhile on the Indian side the two guards were facing punishments and court Marshall. the Local Pakistani commander called his counter part on Indian side and told him about the stolen machine gun. indians were handed over the gun and the soldiers jobs were spared. indian commander too enjoyed the story and wished to meet him. The meeting was arranged and Indian commander requested Pakistani counterpart to promote him to JCO rank.
the Pakistani counterpart replied " OK., but he is a niazi, pata ni agey kia kr jaye".
but any how he was promoted on indian commander request.
