Title:Hard Kill Torpedo Defense

1002.jpg

The first hard kill torpedo defense solution effective even in shallow water. The Torbuster is a fourth generation torpedo countermeasure for submarines. It provides effective defense against all types of acoustic homing torpedoes by means of combined soft and hard kill.

  • Breaks torpedo homing
  • Eliminates the re-attack problem
  • One torbuster per single torpedo attack
  • Fast reaction time – can deal with very short range attacks
  • Safe – complies to IM standards

Torbuster is designed to protect submarines from attacks by all types of acoustic homing torpedoes. Upon detection of an incoming torpedo, the submarine launches a the decoy from an external launcher. The decoy will propel itself to a safe distance from the submarine and seduce the incoming torpedo by transmitting acoustic signals using reactive acoustic deception. This technique was first implemented with Rafael's second generation decoy called Scutter, which was optimized for operation in deep sea and littoral water. Unlike earlier passive decoys, Torbuster actively engages the torpedo as it closes in, activating an explosive warhead when the target is at the closest proximity, inflicting sufficient damage to the torpedo to neutralize it.

Another interesting Decoy

Title:Torpedo Defense Suite for Submarines

1000.jpg

Shade - Torpedo Defense Suite for Submarines is designed to protect the submarine from acoustic homing torpedo attacks. Shade protects submarines from attacks by all types of acoustic homing torpedoes. Shade system consists of three main components:

  • Defense programmer that analyzes threats and selects (pre-programmed) response
  • Launcher controller that following the defense programmer commands enables selection and firing torpedo countermeasures, either automatically or manually
  • Up to 32 launchers for firing up to 32 decoys
  • Responds automatically, in real-time, to any threat detected by the submarine without human intervention
  • Pre-sets countermeasures automatically
  • Selects appropriate defense program from variety of programs contained in the
  • Countermeasure Control Module (CCM)
  • Increases probability of submarine survivability

pretty kool....

so when are we arming our nuclear submarines, submarines, aircraft carriers, destroyrs with this...

After DRDO makes its Equivalent:flame:

I thought there were passive and active decoys in existence and operational on multiple subs across the globe.
Whats different with this one?
