NEW DELHI, March 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who is currently on a visit in India, met with Indian President Pratibha Patil here on Friday.

The Russian government is ready to directly support Russian-Indian cooperation in the sphere of high technologies, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said during an Internet-conference with representatives of the Indian public.

As an example of development of cooperation in this field, Putin cited the creation of the GLONASS system. “The use of such systems is versatile and effective,” he stressed. According to him, Russia and India have mutual will at the governmental level to develop cooperation in this field. At the same time, Vladimir added that the countries need support of investment companies of both sides.

“One of the most important and perspective direction of our cooperation is the peaceful use of atomic energy. It has a complex character and includes scientific researches, supplies of nuclear fuel and utilization of nuclear wastes,” he noted.

As Putin stressed, ensuring of safety is an important factor in the given field of bilateral cooperation. At the same time he stressed that “Russian modern reactors are considered to be the most safety in the world.” As a whole, according to the Russian prime minister, atomic energy is more ecological than any other one.

Russia is helping India with the training of its cosmonaut. “The implementation of the project for launching a spaceship with an Indian cosmonaut on board is under way,” Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has said during an Internet conference with the Indian public.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin believes that Russian-Indian cooperation in the struggle against terrorism is successful and he also proposed to support Pakistan in this struggle. Putin stated about it at an online conference with the Indian public on Friday.

Putin noted that Afghanistan is situated in the immediate proximity from the borders of Russia and India. This country “causes concerns not only for us, but also for the whole region and the international community.” “Unfortunately, some part of Afghanistan is still used by the terrorists, and we are quite concerned over it,” the Russian premier said.
