RAWALPINDI - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that provincial government is striving hard to provide uttermost health facilities to the masses and the completion of newly constructed Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) is a greater step in this regard.
In the RIC, completed with hefty amount of Rs 3 billion, thousands of patients, suffering with heart deceases, not only from Rawalpindi and Murree but also adjoining areas like Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will be cured free of cost by the competent cardiologists with the help of latest machinery, he added.
However, the hospital manage to start its Outdoor Patients Department (OPD) and in patient department and operations will be started by the end of this year after the arrival and installation of the machinery in the hospital.
The CM expresses these views after unveiling the plaque of newly constructed RIC at Rawal Road here on Tuesday.
Earlier, Mian Shahbaz Sharif also laid down the foundation stones of Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Kidney Transplant (RIUKT) at Shamasabad and 6th Road Flyover. The government allocated Rs 120 million for RIUT whereas the flyover would be completed with more then Rs 100 million.
The CM was flanked by PML-N MNAs, MPAs and other local leadership, Secretary Health Arif Nadeem, NLC Representative Brig Shahid, Secretary Communication and Works Department, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar, EDO Health Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal and many other officials of City District Government Rawalpindi (CDGR).
Astonishingly, the traffic police did not block the roads for traffic upon arrival of CM as the convoy of CM moved with the routine traffic. The CM was also given warm welcome by the N league supporters at various points along with Murree Road. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Mian Shahbaz Sharif said that PML-N under the wise leadership of its Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was committed to bringing a better change in the life style of poor people of the province.
He said that besides launching a number of other development projects in Rawalpindi by spending billion of rupees, Punjab government made RIC in which thousands of patients suffering with cardiac deceases would be provided adequate health facilities.
He said that besides other departments, PML MNA Hanif Abbasi and the then Secretary Health Fawad Hassan Fawad played their pivotal role in building RIC. He also dubbed Fawad Hassan Fawad as Farzand-e-Rawalpindi saying: There is also another Farzand-e-Rawalpindi (referring to Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed without taking his name) who did nothing for the Pindities. He said that construction work on the state-of-the-art RIUKT has been kicked off and the Institute would be completed with Rs 120 million by the end of this year. Punjab government had purchased a very precious piece of land in this regard along with Murree Road, he added.
Similarly, the C&WD begun construction work on 6th flyover and the project would be completed in the same time of period of 120 days, he said adding that earlier it was done in case of Chandni Chowk Flyover which had lessen the traffic burden on Murree Road successfully. He said that the work on Chuhur Chowl Flyover would be begun very soon.
He added that the government also renovated the roads in Rawalpindi Division and in the Cannt areas with cost of billion of rupees.
A total of 100,000 laptops would be awarded to the shining students of educational institutions in the second phase, the CM said in addition with it this way the government would complete this project with Rs 400 million. The students studying in evening classes would be given preference in the second phase, he stated.
Counting many other development projects and good deeds of N-league, Shahbaz Sharif at the same time leashed out at PPP-led government saying, PML-N is doing for the betterment of the country while the gangs of dacoits and looters sitting in PPP doing opposite and destroying Pakistan with their black deeds. He said that the federal government intentionally did loadshedding in the country general and in Punjab particularly and wrecked the economy and agriculture sectors. He also alleged that PPP ministers and office bearers have attained the new peaks of corruption.
The general elections are approaching fast and if the national wanted to make Pakistan as of 1997 when Mian Nawaz Sharif was Prime Minister then it should vote for him (Nawaz) he urged the gathering.
Hitting PTI Chief Imran Khan very hard, CM was of view that though he dubbed Sharif brothers as Dengue brothers yet he (Khan) himself staying in Landa (London) when dengue virus or floods hit the many parts of Punjab. He said that he and Mian Nawaz visited flood-devastating areas and took part in relief works. Sharif again stressed on the gathering that upcoming elections are very important for the country and the masses should elect Mian Nawaz Sharif as PM if they wished for making the Pakistan strengthen in real means as dreamed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and great poet Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Meanwhile, tight security arrangements were made by the law enforcers under the supervision of City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokher.
