Provincial Secretary Public Health and Engineering Waseem Mukhtar said on Tuesday that Punjab government would undertake Rs 10 billion Clean Water Project by mid January to provide potable water during next five years.
"Provision of potable water to the people is one of the priorities of the government and a comprehensive strategy has been evolved in this regard," he said.
The secretary said it was unfortunate that people of many areas in the province were still deprived of clean drinking water and were suffering from various diseases due to polluted water. Therefore, he said, the Punjab chief minister had decided to launch the Clean Drinking Water Project which would be completed in stipulated time.
